"Marjie is expert in all her disciplines, generous of spirit, & one of the most positive people I know." -- JR
Marjie Citron, LMT, OTR/L has worked as a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist since 1999. She is a graduate of the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, and has continued her bodywork education through the Upledger Institute. Marjie has worked in both medical and spa settings, and maintains a private therapeutic massage and integrative bodywork practice. She has extensive experience as a massage therapist for older adults, including six years of work for individuals with Alzheimer's disease. Marjie received her master's degree in occupational therapy from New York University in 2011. She currently works as a pediatric occupational therapist in NYC.
Marjie brings to her practice a strong background in dance and movement, including professional experience as a modern dancer and choreographer. In 2001 she was introduced to Brain Gym, and became increasingly interested in using movement as a modality to release stress, and to integrate the mind and body for improved processing and function. In 2005 Marjie received her certification as a Licensed Brain Gym Instructor/Consultant through the Educational Kinesiology Foundation, Ventura, CA. She has completed 450+ hours of training in Educational Kinesiology, including extensive training in developmental movement patterns and reflex integration, and additional certification to teach Double Doodle Play, a Brain Gym visual art and movement program. Marjie facilitates Brain Gym sessions for individuals of all ages in her private practice. She offers Brain Gym training courses for service professionals, and has taught continuing education classes through such venues as the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, and Karma Kids Yoga Studio in New York City. Marjie has presented in-service training sessions and workshops to school teachers, parents of children with special needs, and physical/occupational therapists in hospitals and private clinics. She has led Brain Gym groups for school children, seniors, homeless adults, individuals with schizophrenia, and individuals with HIV/Aids.
Marjie is awed by the power of movement and touch to help people access their unique gifts. She is committed to an ongoing exploration of how we respond to stress, and how to bring ourselves back into balance to facilitate living and learning with ease and enjoyment.
